General Maintenance Tips
- 1. You should check engine oil and water levels (coolant and washer fluids) at least once a week or when refuelling depending on operating conditions. If working in an environment with high temperatures and dusty conditions this should be more frequent, even daily in mine site operations.
- 2. Daily checks should include operation of all exterior and interior lighting including instrument warning lights.
- 3. Routine services should be carried out to the manufacturer's specifications as set out in the vehicles handbook. Usually there is a time and mileage specified between service intervals and on that basis, neither should be exceeded to avoid any warranty issues such as liability.
- 4. Things to check on a monthly basis; hoses, pipes and reservoirs for leaks. Power steering fluid level, operation of horn and battery electrolyte. If the battery requires topping up use distilled water to the required level.
WARNING: Batteries contain sulphuric acid. If acid contacts the eyes, skin or clothing, flush immediately with water. If the acid contacts the eyes, consult your doctor immediately.
